After many years of requests and in-depth program development we have prepared ourselves to offer our courses to you in a distance education format. Clinical Traumatologist Certificate Program

Certificate Requirements
This program is designed for professional care-providers who offer clinical and counselling services for trauma survivors or wish to gain the skills to do so. This skills-based program provides participants with a comprehensive framework for survivor needs, assessment / evaluation, and treatment through the trauma recovery cycle as well as addressing care for the caregiver. This Program series provides theoretical knowledge, and practical skill-development opportunities that highlight "best practices" in trauma intervention. Designed for care professionals who have a minimum of a Master’s degree completed or in progress, related to a clinical or counselling field

OR

a minimum of 4-years with a counselling mandate along with regular supervision.

Successful completion of the following courses is required to receive the CLINICAL TRAUMATOLOGIST Certificate of Completion: TI-1001 & TI-202 - TI-207.

*Before enrolling in course TI-206, participants must complete
TI-1001 & TI-202 - TI-207.
A blend of in-class and on-line courses is acceptable.

TI-1001 Early Intervention Field Traumatology Comprehensive Training (4 credit course) 2011PayPal
Both didactic and experiential, Early Intervention Field Traumatology explores the knowledge and skills needed to respond to the emotional trauma associated with natural or human-caused disasters and crisis. Topics include warning signs, recovery stages, fitting interventions to client needs, the new Educate, Assess and Refer (EAR) Field Trauma Response model, Reactions and Response to CBRN Terrorism, steps to lessen crisis impact, utilization of community resources for prevention and resolution. Compassion Fatigue risk factors, symptoms and prevention/self-care strategies and Emergency Site Management System will also be addressed.
TI-202 Overview of Assessment and Interventions (1 credit course)PayPal
Overview of Assessment & Interventions covers clinical interventions, assessment approaches, research, theory and practical applications to help the traumatologist assist clients. Materials focus on how to conduct assessments/evaluations that might contribute to a professional diagnosis. Participants learn to distinguish between normal and distressed behaviour, handle cases with skill, and minimize negative impact upon the client and family.
TI-203 Clinical Standards of Trauma Care: Attachment, Systems and Context (1 credit course)PayPal
Develops understanding of the practical applications of trauma practice, research, and theory among individuals and communities affected by trauma. The course examines age, gender, race, culture, social class, systemic issues, community standards of care, and other factors that are important in designing and implementing programs to fit client needs with appropriate treatment.
TI-204 Tools for Trauma: A CBT Approach (2 credit course)PayPal
Tools for Trauma will provide both the novice and advanced trauma therapist with the knowledge and skills necessary to utilize Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in treatment of trauma survivors. In addition to presenting a didactic foundational understanding of the theoretical tenets of CBT, this course provides experiential training in many of CBT’s most effective techniques, including: Reciprocal Inhibition, Stress Inoculation Training, Systematic Desensitization, Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Behavioural Rehearsal and Relaxation Training. Treatment applications will be framed within a Tri-Phasic model.
TI-205 Group Approaches with Trauma Survivors: Clinical (2 credit course)PayPal
Explores clinical models of interventions for trauma survivor groups, including approaches with recovery and personal awareness components. Various types of program promotions and intake/admission procedures will be addressed.
TI-206 Supervision in Clinical Traumatology (2 credit course)PayPal
Offers a framework for participants to practice and demonstrate proficiency in clinical traumatology skills. The program is offered in a format designed to challenge and help participants grow into competent providers of care for traumatized individuals, families, organizations and communities. *Participants must complete courses TI-1001 & TI-202 to TI-207 in order to enrol in this course.
TI-207 Compassion Fatigue Specialist (Therapist Designation) (2 credit course)PayPal
The Compassion Fatigue Specialist Training (CFST) is an intensive Compassion Fatigue resiliency program developed with the caring professional in mind. This course is designed to provide professionals with in-depth understanding of Compassion Fatigue & recovery interventions using the Accelerated Recovery Program (ARP, Gentry, Baranowsky & Dunning, 1997). This course provides all the tools necessary to implement the five-session ARP protocol for assisting professionals who have become compassion fatigued.
